Ever been inspired by those flower-filled hanging baskets in Europe? Why not make one for yourself? Many colourful annuals struggle to perform well in baskets during our hot summers, but they thrive through the cooler months. Here are some plant combos to try.

  • Purple pansy
  • Blue or white lobelia
  • Maidenhair fern (Adiantum)
  • Spider plant (Chlorophytum comosum)

  • Cos lettuce
  • Red and yellow lettuce
  • Curly parsley
  • Coriander
  • Trailing thyme

Native combo
Establish this combo of native groundcovers through winter for a knock-out show in spring

  • Red leschenaultia (Lechenaultia formosa)
  • Purple fan flower (Scaevola aemula)
  • Cut-leafed daisy (Brachyscome multifida) – mauve, purple, pinks, whites or lemon
  • Purple Dampiera (Dampiera diversifolia)
